Stromectol , Mectizan , Ivexterm , Scabies , Elimite , Acticin , Lyclear , Permethrin , Cream rinse ( Ivermectin ) This medicine is an anthelmintic used to treat worm infections. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Ivermectin is a medication used to treat river blindness (onchocerciasis) and a certain type of diarrhea (strongyloidiasis). It may also be used for some other kinds of worm infections.

Before using

INFORM YOUR DOCTOR of all prescription and over-the-counter medicines that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, breast-feeding, or recent foreign travel (Loa loa-endemic areas).

Directions

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. TAKE THIS MEDICINE with water.

STORE THIS MEDICINE at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light.

Cautions

KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY APPOINTMENTS while you are using this medicine.

THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE DIZZINESS.

Using this medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. Ask your doctor if you have questions about which medicines cause dizziness.

ALCOHOL, HOT WEATHER, EXERCISE, AND FEVER can increase dizziness. .

To prevent dizziness or fainting, sit up or stand up slowly, especially in the morning.

Also, sit or lie down at the first sign of dizziness or weakness.

IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine during pregnancy.

THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.



Possible side effects

SIDE EFFECTS, that may occur during treatment, include dizziness, headache, diarrhea, nausea, or itching. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor.

CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience an increase in asthma attacks; joint pain; enlarged or painful lymph nodes; fever; swelling of face, legs, ankles, or feet; rash; dizziness upon standing; swelling of eyelids; or infection or inflammation of the eyes.

CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience seizures, yellowing eyes and skin, or dark urine. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor.

If you take too much

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.

Symptoms of overdose may include rash, swelling, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, seizures, stomach pain, and difficulty breathing.

Additional information

Examination of stool samples by your doctor is needed to be sure the infection is gone.

DO NOT SHARE THIS MEDICINE with others for whom it was not prescribed.

DO NOT USE THIS MEDICINE for other health conditions.
